AdRotate Banner Manager 5.17.2 includes a few changes and tweaks for previous updates and is the last update for this year. The activation script has been improved a little to properly add the correct settings on first activation.
GooseUp for updates
Over the last few weeks I’ve been working on an all new, or improved rather, update system for my plugins. Inspired by the release of Sybre Waaijers system I have re-tooled the update system used for AdRotate Pro to be compatible with every plugin I make. You may have seen a few sneaky updates for most of my WooCommerce plugins float by already, for example.
GooseUp is primarily meant to provide more reliable updates for my plugins. While AdRotate Banner Manager gets updates from the wordpress website, most WooCommerce plugins I make do not. Which means that if you have one of those plugins you needed to download the zip file and do the update yourself via FTP. Not very intuitive. With GooseUp it all goes via your dashboard, with just a few clicks, just as WordPress intents it to be – Convenient and easy. I have also figured out Auto-Updates along the way, so all plugins now also support WordPress’ Auto-Update feature.
And as an extra benefit, if you can call it that, is to de-couple you from the wordpress.org website a bit. This enhances your privacy a little. The less they know about you and your website, the better. GooseUp does not talk to wordpress.org for plugins that are not hosted on their repository. All other plugins are still reported for analytics to Automattic.

Thanks to useful user feedback all recent bugs have been quickly addressed and received fixes within days. You can help out too! If you see that something isn’t right with the plugin, even stupid things like typos. Please report them. AdRotate has a support forum on wordpress.org for that. But if you feel the issue is important enough you can always email me with your question or concern.
Without your reports, suggestions or insights I can’t improve the plugin. So please send in your suggestions and report issues, bugs and quirks as soon as possible. Providing some insights on why software doesn’t work for you is very important for developers to improve their products.
