AdRotate Pro 5.8.16 – Improved user experience and PHP8 compatibility

AdRotate Pro header

This update removes the mostly defunct General Info dashboard. Also it improves PHP8 compatibility. Along with some other changes and bugfixes.

PHP8

A number of compatibility issues with PHP8 have been resolved and AdRotate Pro should now work properly on it.
Please if you find quirks or errors when using PHP8 let me know as soon as possible and include the error message so I can fix them in the next update.

Dashboard updates

As you’ll notice the General Info dashboard has been removed. None of the information on it was really essential to the plugins functioning and the page as a whole served no real purpose other than to show the RSS feed from my blog. Links to this have been moved to the help tabs. And you can of-course subscribe to my RSS feed for free here – Subscribe to RSS.

AdRotate Swap

Announcing an all new approach to website promotion. AdRotate Swap will be added to a future version of AdRotate and AdRotate Pro.
AdRotate Swap is an easy way to promote your website for free on websites that use AdRotate or AdRotate Pro. Every AdRotate and AdRotate Pro user can participate.

From your dashboard you’ll be able to create a campaign for your website with a few specific settings such as which banner image to use and how long the campaign should run. Your campaign is then submitted to AdRotate Swap. Other AdRotate (Pro) users will send in their campaigns as well. Every publisher receives a selection of available campaigns to pick from and publish them on their website. Campaigns sent in from AdRotate Pro list higher than others.

And part of the dashboard will look a little something like this:

Your campaign may end up on dozens or hundreds of websites and you can choose campaigns to show on your website. The goal of your campaign is simple; drive traffic to your website. All publishers can choose which campaigns they want to show. Everyone is encouraged to add these campaigns to their regular ad spots so visitors on those websites can easily find your website.

The more people participate the better this works. Free promotion is never bad. More traffic is almost always good. If you’re selling something, you may get more sales. If you rely on advertising revenue, you’ll likely have more clicks and thus more revenue. But it also helps with your linkbuilding which may benefit your ranking in search. It’s win-win really.

If you have thoughts or comments about this new advertising system, let me know in the comments!

Update regularly!

Staying up-to-date with plugins is important and is almost never a bad thing. Updates are important for your website security. But more often updates also add new or improve features as well.
Updates are available via your dashboard and require no special knowledge to install, this makes it extremely easy to keep your site secure and have the latest features.
