Hi,
We are tracking Impressions and Clicks using Google Analytics Events.
We originally installed it using this guide https://ajdg.solutions/support/adrotate-manuals/track-advert-stats-with-google-analytics/installing-and-using-google-tag-manager/
As Google is terminating Universal Analytics we need to change this also.
Does impressions tracking work with Google Analytics 4?
AdRotate Pro doesn’t support googles universal tracker. Hasn’t for at least a year.
You can use the easy to use Global Tag, or the hard to use Tag Manager.
Check the manuals to see on how to set that up.
Both work fine for analytics 4.
There is no
Realtime -> Events -> Banner
Behavior -> Events -> Banner
in GA4.
How and where to track impresions and click in GA4?
This guides: https://ajdg.solutions/support/adrotate-manuals/track-advert-stats-with-google-analytics/installing-and-using-google-global-site-tag/?pk_campaign=adrotatepro&pk_keyword=settings_stats&pk_content=globaltag_tracker and https://ajdg.solutions/support/adrotate-manuals/track-advert-stats-with-google-analytics/installing-and-using-google-tag-manager/?pk_campaign=adrotatepro&pk_keyword=settings_stats&pk_content=tagmanager_tracker working only on Universal Analytics.
I guess we’re having some kind of misunderstanding here. Different use of terms/names perhaps.
The first link describes how to set up the Global Tag from google. And the 2nd shows how to set up Tag Manager. There is no mention to set up universal trackers on either page.
The first screenshot on both guides, while accurate, is a bit dated and shows the Universal tracker method still. This option has been removed almost 2 years ago as it is no longer supported by Google, I think since this year.
I don’t use Google Analytics myself, but a few months ago someone had a question about GA4 support and some back and forth with that user showed that both methods work for the new analytics dashboard.
Edit: To add to that, the new UI from GA4 implements events like this super poorly and does not provide a decent way to easily see stats/numbers in a meaningful way.
If that’s also the case for you I highly recommend to take control of your stats and switch to something else, such as Matomo Analytics.
Thank you for the reply.
Good to hear it dosnt rely on Universal Analytics Tag type. We will probably test both GA4 and Matomo.
