In AdRotate Pro you can track Impressions and Clicks using Google Analytics 4 Custom Events.
Using that you have all your analytics in one place with the power of Google behind it. For this you can use Google’s Global Tag for Google Analytics 4 (or GA4) available in your Google Analytics 4 dashboard. If you prefer to use Google Tag Manager, check out that guide instead.
Using the Google option all statistics are tracked externally, using
onload
and
onClick
attributes, AdRotate adds those to your adverts where required and compatible.
For simple banner images, both clicks and impressions can be tracked. Most HTML5/iFrame adverts can have Impressions only. AdRotate Pro can detect the format and add the tracking code by itself in most adverts.
Installing the Global Site Tag
If you are using Google Analytics 4 already you should already have the Global Tag installed on your website. AdRotate uses this code to stream events to Google Analytics. So make sure it is set up correctly or add it if you haven’t yet. View Googles documentation on how to add the tag to your website.
Seeing Statistics
You can see your gathered statistics in Google Analytics 4 in.
- Realtime -> Events -> (Events) ‘click’ & ‘impression’
- Custom reports/dimensions you make yourself
Realtime events are tucked into a widget on the lower left of the page as follows (left), if you click the event you’ll see your advert stats (kinda). The advert_interaction item separates into clicks and impressions. And the advert_name is the Advert Title from AdRotate Pro (the name you see in Manage Adverts). If you want to know where the click or impression came from you can look for the ‘page_title’ item.
As is common with GA4, this interface is of not much use and you probably want to make a custom report or dimension using these items. You can create these via the Admin menu in the lower left, and clicking Custom Definitions. In there create a new dimension, name it something and use ‘advert_name’ as the Event Parameter.
