Payment Gateway Stats 3.1 – More accurate stats

WooCommerce header

Payment Gateway Stats 3.0 and newer works with modern WooCommerce versions again. Meaning WooCommerce version 5 and newer.

Version 3.1, this update, has been tested in WooCommerce 10.4 and fixes a the discovery query for Payment Methods. A number of payment gateway plugins combine several payment methods into one option in WooCommerce. For example – the PayPal plugin I use combines Paypal, Venmo, Apple Pay and Google Pay into one payment option. All of these methods would show up as “PayPal” in Payment Gateway Stats.

As a quirk, if the first found transaction happened to be through, say, Apple Pay. All PayPal payments would show up as Apple Pay. This causes confusion for you as a user. It certainly did for me when I found this out today. So an immediate fix was needed.

Now, with the new query, these are split out into their ‘sub titles’ and the plugin relies a bit more on the parsed title for splitting up payment methods. Apple Pay is Apple Pay, and PayPal is Paypal, even if they’re paid for through the same payment method. Simple as that.

Changes in Payment Gateway Stats

  • Update – Payment gateways accepting various methods on one gateway are now shown accurately
  • Tested – WooCommerce 10.4

AdRotate Pro 5.25 – An all new dashboard

AdRotate Pro header

AdRotate Pro 5.25 introduces the same renewed dashboard as AdRotate Banner Manager got last month. Including a few refinements. All data passing through the dashboard options is better santized and better checked for valid inputs as well. The dashboard is now responsive, making the usability on smaller devices much much better.

Exporting and Importing adverts is made better with more reliable code and better checks for the data entered through a CSV file. If you were using this method to get adverts into the system, make a new template file. Simply export 1 configured advert to make a new template file.

The importer will check for the exported version and refuse older files as they are not longer compatible. The new import code better checks which column belongs where and what data goes in it, but it remains ‘dumb’ CSV. So make sure your files are up-to-date and compatible. Notable changes are that more settings are now included in the files, making for a more complete export and a better import.

Similarly the Portability hash got an update as well, improving the format of the hash, but also by including more advert settings.

AdRotate 5.17 – Bugfixes and dashboard updates

AdRotate Banner Manager 5.17 is the second in a few updates to overhaul the dashboard. In this release the new dashboard introduced a few versions ago gets a few more tweaks and some of the styles and related code gets refinements so it works even better. Dashboard buttons and switches are now better aligned and all of the blocks/widgets in the dashboard are now in a responsive grid. This should massively improve the usability of AdRotate Banner Manager on mobile devices.

In conjunction with AdRotate Pro this version also improves the export capabilities for ads. For AdRotate Banner Manager this mostly means the Portability Hash works better. The hash is better formed and includes more settings from ads, along with better checks for missing or incorrect data.

AdRotate 5.16 – Dashboard overhaul

AdRotate Banner Manager 5.16 is the first in a few upcoming updates to overhaul the dashboard. It struck me that in the last 15 or so years the dashboard has remained pretty much unchanged. While that is fine, stable and predictable, a bit of updating isn’t back.

So to start for all settings pages the look has been updated to include backgrounds, rounded corners and the ‘ugly’ banner at the bottom of each page has moved to a sidebar in settings. I’ve also re-added the RSS feeds so people can actually see blog updates – Including this post – if they want to.

I’m not entirely sure what to do with the management dashboards, but they’ll likely see some updates in the coming few updates as well. Clear your browser cache if the new dashboards look misaligned or like they’re missing bits and pieces.

Another thing brought to my attention were some inefficient queries for stats. These have been fixed and updated as well. On average, on my tiny test site, these queries are now at least twice as fast. And in searching for other queries to improve I found a few typos and quirks that have been fixed as well.
